It can be stressful when having to plan an event. I just threw a party for 160 family and friends and it turned out great but there is always a time when I need some inspiration on things like venue, favors, and decorations.
For my son’s Communion party I decided to have my event at Danfords Marina in Port Jefferson, New York. I selected it because it was on the water, I love the decor of the ballroom and Danfords also offers room options for my out of own guests. With the weather cooperating, it made for a great day. Not only did we utilize the beautiful ballroom but we were able to sit outside on a private deck and enjoy the amazing view. If you don’t live close enough to have an event at Danfords Marnia I would absolutely recommend taking a trip to stay for the weekend.

What would a party be without some Pinterest inspo? When I was looking for flower ideas I found mason jars that were blue and white. With the help of my friend Sandra, we were able to make it happen. I bought blue and white spray paint and wrapped masking tape around the jar before spraying. 90% of it looked good expect for the small areas where the paint ran into each other. Sandra bought the acrylic paint in white, applied painters tape instead of masking, and used the navy spray paint. After spraying the paint and letting it dry, she applied the acrylic white to the area under the tape which alleviated the paint running. We used hydrangeas as well as white stock in the jars and placed them on the place card table and along the bar. It was a great touch to a nautical themed party.

Nothing better then to adding some sweet treats to a party. We ordered a cross to be displayed with the most amazing donuts from Sweet Displays NYC. The display itself is a great addition to the decor and the donuts are absolutely incredible. I chose the white frosted donuts with white sprinkles as well as the glazed donuts with white drizzle. Sweet Displays NYC has so many options of displays, donut flavors and color selections. The owners are wonderful to work with and they are based in Eastern Long Island servicing Long Island, NYC, and parts of New Jersey and Westchester.

The wall was a huge hit not only with the children but adults as well. It was definitely a sweet addition to the party.

The entertainment can make or break a party. With 60 kids, I needed to make sure I had a good DJ that could keep the party going. Elite Sounds DJ Entertainment did not dissapoint. The music was great and everyone was entertained.

As for the favors I ordered individual mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. When it comes to cupcakes, Baked by Melissa are the best! I selected the three pack party favor for this occasion which was a perfect addition to the table settings. It was so easy to order and the cupcakes arrived pre packaged two days before the event. Since they arrived prior to the date of use, they suggested I put them in the freezer which worked out perfect! Cupcakes stayed fresh and they tasted phenomenal. If you don’t live close to a Manhattan location no worries, Baked by Melissa ships nationwide. If you want more info on this delicious company, stay tuned for a full review.
