Long Island Boys Are Funny

Those of you who know me know I love going to comedy shows and if you are from Long Island then you are probably familiar with The Paramount theater in Huntington. I have seen several shows there and most recently I went to see comedian Kevin James.

I love going to Huntington because there are so many amazing places to eat. We went with a few couples and the boys really wanted to try Sapsuckers.

It’s like a cute upscale bar with farm to table options and draft beers. I never really have eaten at a place like it. The menu surprised me with organic options and I have to say the food was so good. We got a bunch of appetizers and then ended up ordering a few of the taco choices to split. I would highly recommend the shrimp tempura tacos!

Sapsuckers is a few blocks from the show so a quick walk and we were at The Paramount. There is also a bar at the theater so we grabbed a drink and headed in to see the show.

The last two times I went there we got seats on the upper level against the wall with stools facing the stage. I like it because there is waitress service and space to move around.

Chris Roach who is from Long Island and has been in shows like Kevin Can Wait on CBS opened for Kevin James. He was funny and did a great job getting the crowd warmed up. I happen to see him after the show and asked him for a picture and he was so nice about it. You can also catch Chris on his podcast Long Island Explained.

Kevin James took the stage and I just love his energy. I am definitely partial to his work because he grew up a few towns over from me so I get where he is coming from but even if you aren’t from Long Island he can still make you laugh.  I laughed the most at his comedy about his family life. He has four children ages 14, 12, 8 and 5 as well as his gorgeous wife Steffiana de la Cruz.

If you didn’t make the show don’t worry he has two more scheduled at The Paramount on February 16th and May 3rd. Tickets are still available so if you are in the neighborhood I would absolutely go and check it out.
